The goal of The Edvantage Project is to enrich and augment current non-profit K-12 student beneficiaries by increasing access to online educational programs and access to Best Step Tutoring’s after-school tutoring programs. The barrier to access impactful digital educational services is remarkably high, and education is becoming increasingly more reliant on technology, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic. Students left without access to laptops, computers, or e-readers have been put at a severe disadvantage. We aim to right this imbalance.

Our Process

1. Old Device Donated

Donations of old devices are collected through ongoing electronic drives, drop-off bins at local businesses, or through the mail. We accept any devices in any condition.

2. Old Device Analyzed

Once we receive the donated device, we assess it and test it in a variety of ways. This helps us establish the average retail value and is the basis for determining the next steps for the device.

3. Functional Device Acquired

If the device is in good condition, it is ready to be sent to a student! If the device is not in a good enough condition, we either repair it ourselves or sell it and use the proceeds to purchase a new laptop.

4. Functional Device Donated

A working device, either repaired or newly purchased, gets sent to a student in need. Then, the donor of the old device gets notified of the whereabouts of their contribution!
